Location: West of Bandera off State Hwy 16, then take Ranch Road 470
Located on the picturesque Sabinal River in the scenic Hill Country - just west of Bandera - Vanderpool is a particular fall favorite thanks to the beauty of the Lost Maples State Park although the Park offers year around beauty. In addition, the area is a favorite of deer hunters during hunting season. For the outdoors person the rest of the year, you'll find the area offers fishing, swimming, hiking along nature trails, camping and backpacking.
When in the area don't miss the scenic drive along the east-west route of FM 337. The views of massive wooded steps with tiny, secluded valleys is a must. RM 187 just north of Vanderpool allows access to the top of Edwards Plateau (2,300 feet) where it joins Texas 39. Sinkholes, basins that feed water to the Edwards Aquifer also dot the Hill Country.
