Located in far west Texas, El Paso is served by Interstate 10 and State Highways 62 and 180. The city's name comes from its location - a mountain pass (Alt. 3,762), surrounded by mile high peaks. Home to a branch of the University of Texas, El Paso is also home to many professional sports teams including baseball, soccer, hockey, and rugby. In addition, the Sun Bowl is host to the second-oldest bowl game played annually. The Speedway Park has auto racing every Saturday night mid-April through mid-October.

El Paso has both walking and guided tours as well as awe-inspiring scenic drives, one of which at the highest point offers a view that includes 2 cities, 2 countries and 3 states.

An old city dating as far back as the late 1500's, El Paso is rich in memorials and museums that include Firefighters, Holocaust, Archaeology, Art, History, Railroad & Transportation and Border Patrol to name a few. There are many historical sites and the state parks offer camping, picnicing, and hiking.

Fort Bliss - established in 1848 - located in El Paso is a U.S. Army Defense Center with a Buffalo Soldier Monument and 2 museums. The Fort Bliss Museum has artifacts and exhibits portraying America's missile history along with modern technology. Museum of Noncommissioned Officer has artifacts dating to the Revolutionary War.
