Home Lake Description Amistad International Reservoir Near town of Del Rio Joint project of USA and Mexico. Toll-free access to Mexico across the dam. Clear blue waters offer boating, fishing and sightseeing. There is Lake Amistad Marina and resort near the south end of US 90 bridge going over the reservoir with Rough Canyon Marina on the Devil's River arm of the reservoir (off US 277 and US 377). Balmorhea Acres: 573 Near town of Balmorhea Impoundment on Sandia Creek where fishing and boating are permitted. Lake Balmorhea provides irrigation for thousands of surrounding acres. Located approximately 3 miles southeast of Balmorhea by way of a local road from US 290. Imperial Reservoir Acres: 1,530 Near town of Monahans/ Fort Stockton Located in arid West Texas between the 2 mentioned towns, Imperial Reservoir provides both irrigation & recreation including boating, fishing, swimming and other related water sports. Access off Texas 18. Red Bluff Reservoir Near town of Orla Pecos River water conservation/irrigation project that also provides a variety of water sports as well as excellent fishing for white bass, hybrid striped bass and native catfish. Located approximately 5 miles north of Orla off of US 285 (43 miles north of Pecos). Home Lake Description Clear Lake Near town of Houston In the southeast area of Houston near nasa. Rentals available for power boats, sail boats, water skis, jet skis, canoes, para-sailing and wind surfing. Come fish for both fresh and saltwater species. Clear Lake is where Armand and Taylor Bayous, and Clear Creek meet to egress into Galveston Bay. Access from NASA Rd. 1 or FM 2094 between Texas 146 and I-45. Corpus Christi Acres:19,336 Near town of Mathis Located a few miles west of Mathis off Texas 359 or via Alice; this reservoir is located on the Nueces River and popular for swimming, fishing, boating, sailing and skiing. The upper reaches of this 27 mile long lake offer excellent habitat for fish. There are several spots around the shore with fishing camps and marinas. El Sal Del Rey (The King's Salt) Near town of Raymondville Located approximately 20 miles west of Raymondville off Texas 186; water collects in shallow depressions in the 'wet' season and then evaporates leaving crystallized rock salt. Houston Acres:12,240 Near town of Houston Located about 18 miles northeast of Houston via US 290 or from Humble via FM 1960, Lake Houston is popular for fishing and water sports. Sabine Near town of Port Arthur Main body of lake is about 19 miles long (common mouth of Sabine and Neches Rivers). The 2 mile-long levees provide fishing for saltwater speckled trout, flounder, redfish and other types of fish. Crabbing is also popular here. Sabine Lake is accessible from both Orange and Port Arthur. Texana Acres:11,000 Near town of Edna This reservoir extends 18 miles up the Navidad River. There are 10 boat ramps around the lake with parking and boat launches. There are also park sites with camping, picnic areas, nature trails, and marinas - all provided by the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority. Good for observing wildlife and photography. The dam headquarters are located approximately 8 iles southeast of Edna via FM 1822 or from Granado. Home Lake Description Austin Acres: 1,830 Near town of Austin Lower Colorado River Authority - begins within western part of Austin and continues 20 miles up the Colorado. Shoreline is dotted with clubs, marinas, and home developments. Popular for skiing and boating. The Emma Long Metropolitan Park is at lake side. Brady Creek Reservoir Acres:2,200 Near town of Brady Located on Brady Creek about 3 miles west of Brady via FM 2028. Offers a variety of water sports at edge of Texas Hill Country. Fishing throughout the year. Lake side facilities include docking and service, ramps, camps, resorts and vacation homes. Buchanan Acres: 23,060 Near town of Llano Lower Colorado River Authority - this lake is the broadest and highest of 6 Highland Lakes. Offers fishing and water sports with lots of space for skiing, sailing, boating. Almost limitless beaches, marinas, docks and vacation home developments. Both public and commercial boat ramps and camps. Accessible from both Llano and Burnett. Canyon Lake Acres:8,240 Near town of New Braunfels One of the most scenic in Texas set amongst steep-shouldered evergreen hills. Here you'll find public parks along the shore offering picnicking, camping/trailer areas and boat ramps. There are also 2 yacht clubs, 2 marinas, fishing groups and ski club along with loads of other activities. Excellent fishing. Located approximately 20 miles north of New Braunfels via Texas 46 and FM 2722 (north); or FM 306 north of I-35. Also accessible from the towns of Sattler, San Marcos and Blanco. Georgetown Acres: 1,310 Near town of Georgetown On North Fork of San Gabriel River this lake is speed restricted in designated fishing areas. Stocked with smallmouth bass and channel cat. It has 3 public use areas, camping areas with RV hookups, and boat launch ramps. Also available are primitive hiking, camping trail. Located approximately 4 miles west of I-35 at Georgetown via FM 2388. Granger Lake Near town of Taylor Corps of Engineers lake opened in 1981 is stocked with Florida largemouth bass and channel catfish. Has a hiking trail along a scenic shoreline with swimming at Wilson Fox Park. Offers camping with hookups, boat ramps, and free picnic areas. The headquarters of the dam are approximately 7 miles east of Granger on FM 971. Also accessible from the town of Bartlett. Inks Lake Acres: 803 Near town of Llano One of the Highland Lakes of the Lower Colorado River Authority. Scenic with excellent all year-round fishing. Also popular for water sports and boating. Has marinas, lake side docks, and vacation homes. Also: Inks Lake State Park and Highland Lakes Golf Course (See Buchanan Dam State Park). Located south of Buchanan Dam via Park Road. Also accessible from the town of Burnett. Lady Bird Lake Near town of Austin (Not shown on most maps) This lake is a stabilized course of Colorado River with The Lone Star paddle-wheeler sightseeing boat offering cruises Memorial Day through Labor Day. Lake side fishing is available. Sailing and canoeing are permitted. No swimming or power boats are allowed. Lyndon B. Johnson (Formerly Granite Shoals Lake) Acres: 6,375 Near town of Kingsland Very scenic lake in the Highland Lakes series on the Colorado River. Offers excellent fishing, boat rentals, launching ramps, lake side marinas, water skiing, and sailing. Located south of Kingsland from FM 1431 (East side) or FM 2900 and other roads to other recreational areas (West). Marble Falls Acres: 780 Near town of Marble Falls One in the series of the Highland Lakes; impoundment on Colorado River. Activities include year-round fishing, sailing, swimming, boating, and skiing. Also has picnic facilities, launching ramps, city park and swimming pool. This lake is inside the city of Marble Falls and winds approximately 6 miles up the Colorado River. Medina Lake Acres: 5,575 Near town of Bandera Impoundment on Medina River with year-round fishing. Popular for water sports. Located about 23 miles southeast of Bandera via Texas 16 to Pipe Creek. Also accessible via Castroville. Travis Acres: 18,930 Near town of Austin Managed by the Lower Colorado River Authority this lake is one of the Highland Lakes; flood control/water supply reservoir. It has 270 miles of shoreline offering marinas, camps, vacation homes and resorts. Extremely popular for skiing, sailing, boating, and fishing as well as the outcroppings of minerals and fossils. Long Acres: 1,269 Near town of Austin Located just east of Austin via FM 969 east, FM 973 north - this lake has been stocked with saltwater flounder and redfish, and native freshwater species. Home Lake Description Abilene Acres: 595 Near town of Abilene Located approximately 15 miles southwest of Abilene this lake is adjacent to the Abilene State Park offering the visitor swimming, fishing, boating, camping and other water sports. Also accessible from Buffalo Gap. Alan Henry (Fee) Near town of Lubbock Built by the city of Lubbock this lake is the water supply for part of Garza County. It was constructed on the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos River approximately 65 miles from the city. The recreational area offers picnicking, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting and boating. For Information: 806-775-2602 Arrowhead Acres: 16,200 Near town of Wichita Falls Located approximately 14 miles southeast of Wichita Falls this lake is on the Little Wichita River. Offers fishing, swimming, picnicking, boating - including the facilities at Lake Arrowhead State Park. Accessible via US 281 south and FM 1954 east; and from Archer City and Henrietta. Brownwood Acres: 7,300 Near town of Brownwood Located among pleasant hills this lake is the location of some religious and youth camps. Its 95 mile shoreline offers commercial camps and boat docks as well as swimming, boating, camping and water skiing. See Lake Brownwood State Park. Champion Creek Reservoir Acres: 1,560 Near town of Colorado City Located approximately 7 miles south of Colorado City off Texas 208. Provides campsites, picnic areas, boat docks, fishing and swimming. Childress & Baylor Near town of Childress Located approximately 9 miles west of Childress off US 287, these adjacent lakes are not only used for water supply for the city but also fishing and camping. Camping areas with RV sites and dump station are available. Cisco Acres: 445 Near town of Cisco Located in scenic hills about 4 miles north of Cisco off Texas 6; this lake is excellent for water sports and fishing. A city park has picnicking, primitive camping area and miniature golf. You'll also find unusual rock formations of interest to mineral collectors here. Coleman Acres: 2,000 Near town of Coleman Press Morris Park (190 acres/city of Coleman) is located on this lake. Activities include fishing, water sports, picnicking, camping and wildlife watching. Located approximately 17 miles north of Coleman off US 283. Colorado City Acres: 1,612 Near town of Colorado City Activities include fishing, picnicking with areas for boat ramps and camping and Lake Colorado City State Park (500 acres). Most activities can be enjoyed year-round. Located approximately 7 miles southwest of Colorado City off I-20 west or Texas 163 south. Daniel Acres: 950 Near town of Breckenridge Located about 7 miles south of Breckenridge via US 183 and FM 576, this lake is on gonzales Creek, operated by city of Breckenridge for recreation and water supply. Activities include primitive camping, picnicking at designated sites and fishing. No swimming. Diversion Acres: 3,419 Near town of Wichita Falls Impoundment on Wichita River; activities include water sports and fishing. Located approximately 27 miles southwest of Wichita Falls via US 82 / 277west to Dundee, then FM 2846 north. Also can be reached from Mankins, Electra and Vernon. E. V. Spence Reservoir Acres: 14,950 Near town of Big Spring Considered a showcase lake for stripped bass; operated by concessionaires with boat ramps, camping and supplies. Eddleman & Graham Acres: 2,500 Near town of Graham These two lakes are connected by canal. Activities include boating, fishing, and lake side camping. Located 2 miles northwest of Graham off US 380 west. Also accessible from Olney and Newcastle. Fort Phantom Hill Acres: 4,246 Near town of Abilene Twenty-nine (29) miles shoreline encircled by paved highways (south of old fort ruins). There are numerous marinas, campsites and other facilities for outdoor activities and water sports. Located 10 miles northeast of Abilene via FM 600. Also accessible from Anson. Fryer Near town of Perryton (Usually not shown on maps) Nice recreational area on beautiful Wolf Creek; 700 acre county park popular for boating, swimming, fishing and picnicking. Located approximately 12 miles southeast of Perryton off US 83. Graham & Eddleman Acres: 2,500 Near town of Graham These two lakes are connected by canal. Activities include boating, fishing, and lake side camping. Located 2 miles northwest of Graham off US 380 west. Also accessible from olney and Newcastle. Greenbelt Acres: 2,025 Near town of Clarendon Reservoir on Salt Fork of Red River with recreational activities including water skiing, boating and other activities. Located approximately 5 miles north of Clarendon off Texas 70 Hords Creek Acres: 510 Near town of Coleman Conservation reservoir offering all water sports, camping, fishing and picnicking. Located northeast Jacksboro via Texas 59. Kemp Acres: 16,540 Near town of Seymour Wichita Falls municipal lake with campsites and service facilities for fishermen and boaters. Located approximately 48 miles southwest of Wichita Falls accessible off US 183/283 north of Seymour. Also accessible from Wichita Falls and Vernon. Kickapoo Acres: 6,200 Near town of Archer City Popular water sports facility with fishing, swimming, water skiing, boating, picnicking and camping. Located on North Fork of Little Wichita River approximately 12 miles northwest of Archer city off Texas 25. Also accessible from Wichita Falls. Leon Reservoir Acres: 1,590 Near town of Eastland Activities include camping, fishing and other water sports. Golf Course and country club lake side - plus fishing, marina and boat services. Located approximately 16 miles southeast of Eastland via FM 570 and FM 2214. Also accessible from Ranger. Lost Creek Reservoir Acres: 450 Near town of Jacksboro Average depth is 45 feet with rock cliffs along shore providing excellent location for fishing. There is a public boat ramp and dock on southwest side of lake (off Texas 59). Located 2 miles downstream from Lake Jacksboro. McClellan Acres: 325 Near town of Pampa Popular local recreation area providing camping with RV hookups, wooded picnic areas, swimming, boat ramps, fishing for black bass, crappie, blue cat and hybrid white/stripers. Located approximately 28 miles south of Pampa via Texas 70 and FM 2477 east. MacKenzie Acres: 896 Near town of Silverton Located in historic Tule Canyon; facilities for camping, picnicking, boat ramps, RV hookups, swimming, and water skiing. Fishing for walleye, largemouth bass, catfish and striped bass. Access 12 miles northwest of Silverton via Texas 86 west. Marvin Acres: (small) Near town of Canadian In national grasslands area with campsites, boat rentals, cottages, and picnic grounds. Also nature trails with spectacular fall color, Fishing: channel catfish, bass and sunfish. Hunting: wild turkey, deer, waterfowl and squirrels. Access approximately 11 miles east of Canadian via FM 2266 east. Meredith Acres: 16,500 Near town of Fritch Beautiful lake built by US Bureau of Reclamation. Facilities include boat/houseboat rentals at marina, 11 campgrounds, 9 picnic areas, 7 boat launch ramps. Fishing: bass, walleye, catfish, and crappie. Lake hq are located on Texas 136 one mile east of Fritch. Also accessible from Stinnett, Amarillo and Borger. Miller's Creek Reservoir Acres: 1,900 Near town of Munday Water activities for several surrounding towns - developed recreational facilities are pending. Fishing is permitted; no boat ramps. Mineral Wells Acres: 646 Near town of Mineral Wells Surrounded by a state park this small lake is popular for swimming and fishing. Located approximately 3 miles east of Mineral Wells via US 180. Located approximately 10 miles south east of Big Spring - take I-20 from Big Spring east to county road. Nasworthy Acres: 1,596 Near town of San Angelo Companion lake to Twin Buttes Reservoir; this municipal lake offers picnicking, fishing, camping, swimming and other water sports. Also 2 non-native species of game fish have been introduced here. Located approximately 6 miles southwest of San Angelo off US 277. Oak Creek Reservoir Acres: 2,375 Near town of Sweetwater Services and accommodations available at lake side. Activities include swimming, fishing, skiing, boating and other water sports. Ivie Reservoir Near town of Ballinger Offers 3 public recreation areas: Concho (south side); Padgitt (north side); and Kennedy (near north end of dam). Rest rooms and picnic tables available. Located approximately 25 miles southeast of Ballinger; 50 miles east of San Angelo, 25 miles south of Coleman; and 55 miles northwest of Brady. Palo Pinto Acres: 2,661 Near town of Palo Pinto On Palo Pinto Creek offering fishing and water sports. Located approximately 25 miles south of Palo Pinto via FM 4 south. FM 3137 west; also accessible from Mineral Wells. Pauline Acres: 612 Near town of Quanah Small lake on Wanderers Creek with tent camping sites (w/hook-ups), swimming, picnicking, bait & tackle and boat ramp. Fish: largemouth and Florida bass and crappie. Located approximately 5 miles east of Quanah off US 287. Also, accessible from Vernon. Possum Kingdom Acres: 14,440 Near town of Mineral Wells One of Texas' most popular lakes with lake side camps and resorts dotted around the area. Activities include skin divers, swimming, boating and fishing. Surrounding area has good seasonal hunting. Possum Kingdom State Park (see Caddo) is on southwestern shore. Located approximately 30 miles northwest of Mineral Wells via Texas 337. Also, accessible from Breckenridge , Caddo, Graham and Graford. Stamford Acres: 4,690 Near town of Stamford Impoundment offering boating, water skiing, and fishing. Vacation cabins and campsites at lake side. The Stamford municipal park includes lodes, cabins, concessions, and docks. Located approximately 15 miles northeast of Stamford via US 277 and FM 618 east. Approximately 14 miles southeast of Haskell. Sweetwater Acres: 630 Near town of Sweetwater City park surrounds this meandering impoundment. Activities include water sports, fishing and golf (course on lake shore). Located approximately 8 miles southeast of Sweetwater via FM 1856 from Texas 70 or I-20 east. Trammell Acres: (Small) Near town of Sweetwater Smallest of Sweetwater's lake system. No swimming, skiing or boating. Fishing allowed with bait and permit service at lake shore. Located approximately 10 miles south of Sweetwater via FM 1809 from Texas 70. Twin Buttes Reservoir Near town of San Angelo Impoundment on South and Middle Concho Rivers with earth-fill dam built by US Bureau of Reclamation. Activities include swimming, fishing, boating, and other water sports. Lake side camps and service facilities. Lake Nasworthy is an adjacent impoundment. Located approximately 8 miles southwest of San Angelo off US 277. White River Acres: 1,808 Near town of Crosbyton Water supply for Post, Crosbyton, Spur and Ralls. Features lake side cabins, camping areas, picnic areas, fishing supplies and boat launch and rentals. Located on tributary of Salt Fork of Brazos approximately 16 miles southeast of Crosbyton via FM 651 south, FM 2794. Also accessible from Dickens, Spur and Post. Wichita Acres: 2,200 Near town of Wichita Falls Popular for picnicking, swimming and weekend outings. Excellent fishing with lake record of 12.25 lb. largemouth bass. Steinhagen Acres: 13,700 Near town of Jasper Corps of Engineers impoundment with public parks, camps and marinas at lake side. Activities include boating, swimming and fishing. Bob Sandlin Acres: 1,242 Near town of Mount Pleasant Reservoir on Big Cypress River with commercial marinas, cabins, fishing barges, boat ramps, restaurants and fishing. Bob Sandlin State Park on FM 127 and FM 21 provides day use & overnight camping, picnic sites, screened shelters, boat ramp, fishing pier and trails. Information can be obtained at lake HQ off FM 3417 from US 271 south of Mount Pleasant. Also accessible from Pittsburg. Lakes Monticello & Cypress Springs are adjacent. Brandy Branch Reservoir Acres: 1,242 Near town of Marshall Power plant cooling reservoir offers boat ramp, bank fishing (limited). No camping facilities. Located between Marshall and Longview off I-20 on FM 3251 (exit 610) 3 miles south. Caddo Acres: 26,800 Near town of Karnack Spreads over portions of Texas and Louisiana. There are 42 miles of boat roads (marked by state) because the lake is so large. Excellent fishing. Lots of marinas and camps at lake side. Caddo Lake State Park is a few miles north of Karnak. Also, accessible from Jefferson and Uncertain. Conroe Acres: 20,985 Near town of Conroe Impoundment on the West Fork of the San Jacinto River. Lake side offers boat ramps, boat rentals (sailboat included), marinas, and campgrounds. Observation and dam off Texas 105 west of Conroe. Also accessible from I-45 via FM 1097 west and FM 830 west (not shown on most maps). Fishing include catfish, native game fish and other introduced species including walleye and striped bass. Cypress Springs Acres: 3,400 Near town of Mount Vernon Scenic area offering shoreline parks, campgrounds and picnic areas, RV hookups, boat ramps, commercial marinas, swimming beach and rest rooms. Five parks include Dogwood Park, Mary King Park, Walleye Park, Overlook Park and W.D. Jack Guthrie Park. Excellent bird watching. Fishing for catfish and black bass. Located approximately 8 miles southeast of Mount Vernon via Texas 37 south, FM 2723 east. Also, accessible from Pittsburg. Lake O'Pines Acres: 18,700 Near town of Jefferson Corps of Engineers reservoir and one of the most attractive in East texas. Activities include boating, fishing, sailing, swimming, camping, and water skiing. For information contact HQ at east end of Ferrell's Bridge Dam, FM 726. Located approximately 10 miles west of Jefferson via FM 729. Also accessible from Gilmer, Lone Star, Ore City, Daingerfield and Avinger. Livingston Acres: 82,600 Near town of Livingston Reservoir on the Trinity River offering camps and parks, marinas with a broad range of services for camping, fishing, and boating. (see Lake Livingston State Park - Livingston) Accessible west of Livingston off US 190 and many FM roads on both sides of lake. Martin Creek Acres: 5,020 Near town of Tatum Popular lake with boaters and fishermen. State Park (Tatum) on north shore with picnic area, camping, bait, tackle and boat ramp. Located approximately 4 miles southwest of Tatum via Texas 43 and local road south from FM 1716 intersection. Monticello Reservoir Acres: 2,000 Near town of Mount Pleasant Companion impoundment to Lake Bob Sandlin. Popular year-round but more so in the winter when fishermen seek bass in the lunker category. County park with picnicking, camping sites, boat ramps, and electric hook-ups. Accessible 8 miles southwest of Mount Pleasant via FM 127. Muvaul Acres: 3,820 Near town of Carthage Activities include water skiing, boating, swimming, fishing along with lake side campsites. Hunting: waterfowl during winter season. Bob Sandlin Acres: 1,242 Near town of Mount Pleasant Reservoir on Big Cypress River with commercial marinas, cabins, fishing barges, boat ramps, restaurants and fishing. Bob Sandlin State Park on FM 127 and FM 21 provides day use & overnight camping, picnic sites, screened shelters, boat ramp, fishing pier and trails. Bonham Acres: 1,020 Near town of Bonham Located on Timber Creek this lake is the water supply for the city of Bonham. Brazos Near town of Waco Stabilized course of Brazos River going through Waco. Campsites and parks along lake. Bridgeport Acres: 13,000 Near town of Bridgeport Impoundment on the West Fork of Trinity River. Activities and facilities include fishing (year-round), swimming, picnic areas, campsites, boat ramps, boat rentals and other services. Site of Sid Richardson Boy Scout Camp (3,000 acre). Located approximately 4 miles west of Bridgeport off US 380. Also accessible from Decatur. Cedar Creek Reservoir Acres: 33,750 Near town of Athens Impoundment offering campsites, fishing, picnicking, boating and swimming. Located approximately 10 miles west of Athens north of Texas 31. Also accessible from Trinidad, Kemp, Malakoff and Mabank. Cooper Lake Acres: 19,000 Near town of Cooper Impoundment on the South Sulphur River with a 2 lane ramp at John's Creek Access near Klondike and a 4 lane boat ramp near the dam at Tira Access. Cooper Lake State Park has 2 units: South Sulphur unit on the south side offering camping, boat ramps, fishing, picnic facilities and swimming beach (all ADA approved); Doctor's Creek unit on the north of the dam offers the same amenities. Accessible from Commerce, Cooper, Sulphur Springs and Klondike. Crook Acres: 920 Near town of Paris Recreational and water supply lake operated by city of Paris. This lake offers lighted campsites and picnic areas, and water skiing. Fish: crappie, largemouth bass, catfish, sunfish and hybrid striped bass. Located approximately 3 miles northwest of Paris off US 271. Cypress Springs Acres: 3,400 Near town of Mount Vernon Scenic area offering shoreline parks, campgrounds and picnic areas, RV hookups, boat ramps, commercial marinas, swimming beach and rest rooms. Five parks include Dogwood Park, Mary King Park, Walleye Park, Overlook Park and W.D. Jack Guthrie Park. Excellent bird watching. Fishing for catfish and black bass. Located approximately 8 miles southeast of Mount Vernon via Texas 37 south, FM 2723 east. Also, accessible from Pittsburg. Eagle Acres: 1,200 Near town of Eagle Lake Impoundment well known for goose and duck hunting. Popular site for shooting resorts and hunting clubs. No fishing or boating. Eagle Mountain Reservoir Acres: 9,200 Near town of Fort Worth Located on the West Fork of the Trinity River this lake serves for recreation (all water sports) and water supply for Fort Worth. Joe Pool Acres: 7,470 Near town of Arlington Situated on the Dallas and Tarrant counties line, this lake impounds water from Mountain Creek. Parks: Britton, Loyd and Lynn Creek. Mountain Creek Acres: 3,050 Near town of Dallas Primarily for power generation this lake is also popular for boating and fishing. Located in southwest Dallas near Dallas naval Air Station and Grand Prairie (not shown on most maps). Accessible off US 80. Navarro Mills Acres: 5,070 Near town of Corsicana Corps of Engineers impoundment on Richland Creek with several public parks offering trailer and picnic areas, camping, boat rentals 7 launching, drinking water, rest rooms and fishing supplies. Good fishing. Located approximately 18 miles southwest of Corsicana off Texas 31. Also accessible from Hubbard and Hillsboro. Nocona Acres: 1,470 Near town of Nocona Impoundment on Farmers Creek with commercial marinas, picnicking, campsites with RV hookups, swimming area and boat ramps. Pat Mayes Acres: 5,993 Near town of Paris Corps of Engineers impoundment on Sanders Creek. Public parks offer picnic and camping areas, boat ramps. Ray Roberts Acres: 29,350 Near town of Gainsville Dam at river mile 60 on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. Popular for boating, swimming, and fishing. Isle du bois State Park has more than 1,300 acres providing a 12 mile trail for hiking, equestrian, biking. Also accessible from Sanger, Pilot Point, Aubrey and Tioga as well as Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex. Richland-Chambers Creek Acres: 44,752 Near town of Athens Reservoir with lake side facilities under development. Currently available are: public boat ramps, lake side campground and marina. Located east of Somerville via Texas 36 north to lyons, FM 60 west. Also accessible from Brenham and Caldwell. Squaw Creek Acres: 3,228 Near town of Glen Rose Rocky shoreline on this unusually deep, clear lake. Provided excellent fishing (stocked) for smallmouth, spotted and hybrid striped bass, native game fish and walleye. Fee access. Located approximately 4 miles north of Glen Rose off Texas 144. Stillhouse Hollow Acres: 6,430 Near town of Belton Impoundment of the Lampasas River with broad areas of open water between steep, rocky shores. Public parks (5) offer camping, marina service, picnicking, fishing and boat ramps. Information available at Corps of Engineers HQ at dam FM 1670. Located 8 miles southwest of Belton, access via FM 1670 off US 190 west or via FM 2766 and FM 1670 west of I-35 from Saladao. Also accessible from Temple and Killeen. Tawakoni Acres: 36,700 Near town of Greenville Reservoir is one of larger lakes entirely within Texas and hosts: camps and parks, marinas. Facilities provided are: weather reporting station, boat ramps, designated water ski areas. Excellent fishing. Information available from Sabine River Authority at north end of Iron Bridge Dam off Fm 47 south of Point. Located approximately 16 miles southeast of Greenville off US 69. Also accessible from Wills Point, Quinlan, Commerce, Edgewood, Point, Loan Oak and Emory. Texoma Acres: 89,000 Near town of Denison Reservoir in both Texas and Oklahoma. Facilities include campgrounds (57), 110 picnic areas, trailer parks, 100+ shelter buildings and 80+ boat ramps. Purported to have some of the best fishing in the country. Maps and information are available at project HQ south end of the dam on US 91. Located a few miles north of Denison via US 91. Also accessible from Whitesboro and Sherman. Waco Acres: 7,270 Near town of Waco Impoundment of Bosque River with 60 miles of shoreline mostly within Waco city limits. Amenities: sand beaches, boating, swimming, fishing (year round), lake side camps, parks and marinas. Located at the northwest edge of Waco. Walter E. Long Acres: 1,269 Near town of Austin Located just east of Austin via FM 969 east, FM 973 north - this lake has been stocked with saltwater flounder and redfish, and native freshwater species. Primarily noted for fishing; boat ramps. Waxahachie Acres: 645 Near town of Waxahachi Built in the Trinity River Basin 4 miles southeast of Waxahachie. Recreational activities: water skiing, swimming, picnicking and fishing. Located off Howard Lane (FM 877). Weatherford Acres: 1,210 Near town of Weatherford City lake on Clear Fork of Trinity River with several public fishing areas. Commercial facilities are accessible. Located approximately 7 miles east of Weatherford via US 80/180 and FM 730. Welsh Reservoir Acres: 1,365 Near town of Mount Pleasant Impoundment popular for fishing and camping. Facilities include lake side camping areas, cabins, bait and tackle and boat ramps. Fish: crappie, largemouth bass, catfish and bream. Lake Whitney State Park located on eastern shore. Located a few miles west of Whitney via FM 1244 or Fm 1713. Also accessible from Meridian, Hillsboro and Clifton. Wood Acres: 488 Near town of Gonzales Reservoir on the Guadalupe River (Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority) with recreational areas for picnicking, camping and RV hookups, fishing and rest rooms. Access to lake and river docks via boat ramps. Fish: catfish. largemouth bass, and crappie. Located approximately 5 iles west of Gonzales on US 90-A, then south on FM 2091. Worth Acres: 3,560 Near town of Fort Worth In northwest Fort Worth this lake is noted for scenic vistas along Meandering Drive. Popular for skiing, boating, and sailing. Calaveras Acres: 3,624 Near town of San Antonio Impoundment on Calaveras Creek known as a pre-eminent Texas bass lake. Facilities include those for boating (ramps) and picnicking. Accessible a few miles southeast of San Antonio off US 181 south and Loop 1604. Canyon Lake Acres:8,240 Near town of New Braunfels One of the most scenic in Texas set amongst steep-shouldered evergreen hills. Here you'll find public parks along the shore offering picnicking, camping/trailer areas and boat ramps. There are also 2 yacht clubs, 2 marinas, fishing groups and ski club along with loads of other activities. Excellent fishing. Located approximately 20 miles north of New Braunfels via Texas 46 and FM 2722 (north); or FM 306 north of I-35. Also accessible from the towns of Sattler, San Marcos and Blanco. Casa Blanca Acres: 1,656 Near town of Laredo This recreational lake also supplies water for Casa Blanca Public Golf Course. Amenities offered: bait & tackle shop, boat rentals, skiing, fishing, boating, swimming area and picnic grounds. Lake record of 9.38 lbs. for largemouth bass. Approximately 10 minutes from Laredo. Choke Canyon Reservoir. Acres:25,733 Near town of Three Rivers Located mid-way between Corpus Christi and San Antonio this reservoir on the Frio River has been stocked with largemouth, florida and striped bass, crappie, channel and blue catfish and sunfish. Three Rivers State Park offers camping, picnicking, and camping. Townsite of Old Calliham (within the park) has campsites, 7-lane boat ramp, rock jetty, screened shelters, fishing pier, fish-cleaning stations, trails, swimming area, and concession facilities. Located approximately 13 miles west of Three Rivers on Texas 72. Corpus Christi Acres:19,336 Near town of Mathis Located a few miles west of Mathis off Texas 359 or via Alice, this reservoir is located on the Nueces River and popular for swimming, fishing, boating, sailing and skiing. The upper reaches of this 27 mile long lake offer excellent habitat for fish. There are several spots around the shore with fishing camps and marinas.
