The painted churches located in Fayette County (near Schulenberg) are representative of the Czech and German immigrants that settled in this area. Each of the churches is hand painted with murals and frescoes. Other historical art also offers a look to the past.
The best time to see these churches in on a Saturday when they are usually open for viewing. And if you can manage a trip in the Spring, in addition to the churches, you'll get to see the Texas wild flowers in bloom. It's not unusual to see whole fields of Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes.
